Galon Jones

Spiritual Direction and Discipleship Minister
(On Sabbatical)

I grew up across the street from Dallas Love Field Airport (literally). My family wasn’t a church going family. In fact, the two things that could not be discussed in my home were religion and politics.

I grew up on a darker side, got involved in drugs, sex and alcohol at very young age. I dropped out of school and began a very steep decline until I had a spiritual awakening in my early twenties. It was then that I began to walk with my Lord Jesus Christ.

I later married Sharon, a wonderful Christ follower. We moved to Searcy, Arkansas, where I returned to school and completed a degree in theology at Harding University. This is where we formed a team to do mission work in the city of Florianopolis, Brazil. The entire team moved to Abilene to do our final preparations at Abilene Christian University (ACU) where I completed a master's degree in Theology before leaving for Brazil in November of 1987. This is where we raised our three children, spending more than a decade church planting in Brazil.

God led us back to the U.S. in the late 90s and after finishing a Marriage and Family Therapy degree at ACU, we relocated to Murphy, Texas. In February of 2002, I joined the ministry staff at Greenville Oaks. I have since completed certifications in Mediation and Conflict resolution from ACU.

Our three children are married and serving the Kingdom where they live. My wife Sharon currently teaches for the Wylie Independent School District.
